Your contribution would also inculcate a sense of giving back the society of which you are an integral part. Apart from providing satisfaction and happiness on an emotional level, contributions made to the projects get exempted from your taxable income.

However there is a thin line which differentiates the two. Volunteerism provides you with a platform to render your time, mentorship, etc to any project/ child/ organization/ programmes etc (non-monetary contributions). People contribute their time, skills and knowledge through volunteer action. If you have free will, commitment, and want to engage and express solidarity for development, you are welcome to join as volunteers.

However, Employee Giving is a mode of contribution where monetary contributions (necessarily) along with non-monetary ones are made towards a social cause. It enables the employee to make small contributions on a periodic basis towards impacting the life of an individual, accompanied by the time, mentorship, emotional support etc that he/she would offer.

Tata Steel Foundation is the CSR wing of Tata Steel that works across various verticals:
Education, Livelihoods, Health, Ethnicity, Skill Development, Agriculture, and Infrastructure.

Portal of Purpose is specifically an employee giving project which has been differentiated from our volunteering initiatives. Yes, you will be mailed the report of the programs annually.

Being a tax exempt entity, donors can avail tax benefits for all donations made to Tata Steel Foundation under Section 80G of Income Tax Act.Your certificate will be mailed to you within 15 days of receiving your donation. Portal of Purpose enables a platform to help you have frequent interactions with the beneficiaries of the project(s). You are encouraged to spend time with all the beneficiaries, importantly, because your contributions in terms of time, mentorship etc would foster these children/youth towards informed decisions in life.
